Download 11 is the official update to version 1.0a

The update to v. 1.0a was released in January 2010. Version 1.0a of this retail release seems to be identical to version 1.2 of the digital release, also in January 2010. The Read Me files for v. 1.0a (retail) and v. 1.2 (digital) are identical apart from the version numbers; in particular, the listed updated features are identical.

The game requires an original DVD #2 to be mounted for it to play. However the DVD has SecuRom copy protection so a no-DVD of the game application is required, unless you obtain an original DVD #2.

Download 12 is a cracked copy of the game application for v. 1.2 (digital). This seems to work OK with the retail version here. As I explained above, I believe that v. 1.0a (retail) and v. 1.2 (digital) are probably identical. It would be a good idea to apply the update to v. 1.0a (DL #11), in case it also updates game assets, before playing the retail version of the game.

Downloads 13-22 are the parts of a zipped archive of the Digital Release v. 1.2

If you just want to play the game, I suggest you download the digital version (DLs 12-22) and play that, just in case using the crack for the digital version with the retail DVD version causes problems further into the game.

To unpack the parts of a zip archive, place the parts of the archive together in one folder and then drag the .001 file to The Unarchiver. This will join the parts and unzip the archive.

A modern version of the game requiring Sierra (Mac OS X 10.12) is sold via Steam. MacGameStore also sell a version requiring a Steam account and Mac OS X 10.11. It is no longer sold by Aspyr.

The versions on this page are not compatible with Mac OS X 10.11, so there is no compatibility overlap with the versions currently for sale.

Initially made canon by Star Wars creator George Lucas, the story of the game makes great attempts at immersing players into the already familiar science fiction world. The player is put in the shoes of Darth Vader’s apprentice. With your Jedi father killed by Vader after the events of Revenge of the Sith, you are taken under Vader’s wing and trained to become a sith master. The goal given to you by Vader is simple: eliminate a list of jedi targets. As Starkiller, you’ll travel to various planets in search of remaining jedis to duel. Interestingly, the story puts an emphasis on which side of the force you’ll choose to side with. Will you rule the galaxy with your sith lord master? Or will you aid the rebellion?

The major drawback to the Force Unleashed lies in its design. Unfortunately, while the graphics and overall presentation are stellar, the variety of enemies and AI aren’t much to shout about. Quicktime events and boss battles are exciting to begin with, but players looking for a challenge certainly won’t find much.
