Developers' notes regarding beta releases

12.5.0.50 - 03/24/2014

Team Coding

New Feature - Auto Add Objects to Team Coding from a Script

Toad can now automatically add a list of objects to Team Coding when running a script to create the objects. The objects must be controlled by a Code Collection.

  1. Go to Options Source Control Team Coding.
  2. Select Automatic Team Coding Actions - Add to Team Coding when loading/creating an object/ file.
  3. Load a script with multiple objects that are controlled by Code Collections.
  4. Run the script (F5).
  5. Enter a comment in the Add to Archive dialog, and click OK.
  6. Open or refresh the Team Coding viewer. The newly created objects are listed in the Viewer. If Third Party VCS is in use, the object source is added to the VCS Project for the Code Collection.
Note that builds between .30 and .50 included bug fixes and localization items.
12.5.0.30 - 03/06/2014
Edit BFILE dialogThe 'Edit BFILE' popup dialog (from the grid) now has a 'Find File' dialog that can be used to find files on the database server.
Note that interim beta builds addressed unspecified bug fixes.
12.5.0.27 - 02/28/2014
Team Coding/Source Control

Team Foundation Server (TFS) alternate URL

You can now enter an alternative URL if your Team Project Collection has a non-standard URL that cannot be correctly built using Toad’s TFS configuration settings.

When this value is set, Toad ignores all the other settings (server, port, collection, virtual dir, etc.) and uses the alternate URL to build TFS calls to the Team Project Collection on the server.

It is recommended that this is only used in the very small number of cases where the URL to the Team Project Collection is not configurable from the normal Toad settings.

Note: In this build, this is only available for the TFS internal client.

There are new options in Export DDL and in Generate Schema Script to include result_cache, flash_cache, and cell_flash_cache.

You can now specify that these are always included, never included, or only included when non-default.

Execute script on new connection

A sub-option has been added to the script to execute on new connection feature. In View Options StartUp there is a check-box to also execute that script for each new session that is created as a result of threaded query execution.

The default is unchecked.

The script will execute in the background and provide no indication of success, but if there are any errors raised, you'll be notified with the ability to look at the script output.

The value of the variable is used when the query is executed. Simply use the name of the variable; do not wrap it in %'s.

Example: If the value of PATH is desired, check 'Environment Variable' and enter PATH as the value.

Automation Designer Export Dataset

Bind/substitution variable support has been added. It supports mapping variables to environment variables as mentioned above.

You can use edit controls for managing the list of recipients consistent with email clients.

  • Recipients can be delimited by comma or semicolon.
  • The user-name property of the outgoing mail server is no longer a required field. Not all mail servers require it.
  • The 'Password Required' check-box has been removed. If no password is required then don't enter one.

These keys will need to be upgraded to keys compatible with Toad 12.5 and later.

If you're presented with the licensing window in the current beta, you will need to upgrade your key using the following procedure:

  1. Locate your license number.

This number can be found in the licensing window of your Toad 12.1 installation. If not explicitly listed, it may be included as part of the Site Message associated with your key (Example: ACCOUNTNAME-nnn-nnn-nnn).

  2. Go to the License Upgrade page (http://license.quest.com/upgrade).
  3. Enter your e-mail address and your existing license number, and follow the prompts on the screen.

If you have trouble finding your license number, or have difficulty obtaining an upgraded key, please contact the License Administration team (https://support.quest.com/LicenseKey.aspx) for assistance.

  • Schema Compare
  • Generate Schema Script
  • HTML Schema Doc Generator
  • Project Manager
  • …and everywhere else it made sense to add them.
